I'm gonna change you like a remix

I've been working on this forever and got the entire line-art done after careful planning, posing and colour sampling about four months ago.
Then I let it sit in my WIP folder for forever and didn't look at it ever again. Jeez...
The idea behind this was simple. Kini (she's in my gallery a lot, particularly in older stuff) has been a character I've had and loved since I was about thirteen-ish maybe?
So she's very old. She's been though tons of 'attempted' re-designs, but non of them have ever stuck and for the last five or-so years, she's simply been rotting away into nothingness.
A lot of her original character details were very ill-thought and not exactly original, but hey, I was thirteen, where black and red are only the most coolest of colours and should be used together at every opportunity.

So, on the left we have New!Designed Kini, with her very distinctly human skin and looking somewhat more tribal. She's also a lot more of a jerk-ass in terms of personality, but hey, characterization marches on.
Right side, we have Original!Kini, or at least the design she had when she truly saw the most use and what became her standard. As much as the giant coat does make me feel a bit bleh, I have to admit I still do love it in some form. It's a classic design to me and I had been drawing her for a very, very long time, so its only natural I'm still a little bit attached.
I'm still not sure what to make of the fur. I thought it was neat when I first designed her, but now I've put her back to her earliest concepts, where she instead had dark skin. I honestly don't know what one I like better, but eh.

Song of inspiration is of course "The Phoenix" from Fallout Boy, with its themes of rebirth, kickin' beat and general don'give a fek attitude.
